On Sunday 3 March CCEP NZ saw one of their largest turnouts for Southern Cross Round the Bays. The Coca-Cola Europacific Partners  New Zealand (CCEP NZ) team joined the 27,000 participants for the nation’s largest fun run in Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland.

CCEP NZ was proud to be an event partner of Southern Cross Round the Bays for another year and despite the rain, we saw more people getting involved than ever! There were more than 500 CCEP NZ registrations. The in-person event started in Quay St, in downtown Auckland where walkers, joggers, runners and wheelchair users took to the start line. The 8.4 km course trailed along the Hauraki Gulf coast, finishing in St Heliers Bay. This year there was also a virtual option (where a drier race was possible) and virtual participants could complete the 8.4 km course from wherever they choose.

Thanks to CCEP NZ’s Healthy@CCEP programme, which reinforces the importance of staff wellbeing – employees were given the support to get out and make the most of the event for another year, with the admission cost, sponsored kit and a corporate tent complete with refreshments for the recovery covered by CCEP. There was also a Powerade Active Water Activation at the finish line to help with the hydration for those who completed the race.

Wendy Rayner, CCEP NZ’s Managing Director said “I’m proud that we can support and encourage our people to lead a healthy lifestyle with our Healthy@CCEP programme, we know that physical activity is so important. Round the Bays is an incredible event and we had a huge turnout – even in the pouring rain.  It’s brilliant to see so many of the team getting involved”.

While it wasn’t one of the CCEP NZ team who set the new course record (of 24mins and 35 seconds), there were certainly a lot of people out there giving it their best. Once the team started to reach the end at St Heliers, it’s fair to say they were ‘fizzing for the finish line’ and the celebrations began. After the race, the tired CCEP NZ team were treated to massages, fish’n’chips, cooled down with Mr Whippy, enjoyed a range of CCEP refreshments, and took the opportunity to rest and refuel thanks to CCEP NZ in the corporate tent.

Well done to everyone who got involved in the race and supported our CCEP NZ team. We’ll see you at the start line next year!
