Coca-Cola Europacific Partners New Zealand (CCEP NZ) is proud to announce it has achieved the Advanced GenderTick Accreditation and closed their Gender Pay Gap.

CCEP NZ met the requirements set by GenderTick across the six pillars of Pay Equity, Leadership Representation, Flexible Work & Leave, Gender Safe Workplace, Gender Inclusive Culture and Supporting the Menopausal Transition.

For the Advanced Accreditation, additional criteria points were also met such as:

  • Utilizing a formal remuneration structure and robust remuneration review process. The processes are utilised at all stages of the employee lifecycle, from recruitment through to promotions
  • Going beyond the legislated minimum requirements for parental leave. The organisation is also reviewing their current Parental Leave Policy
  • CCEP NZ provides clear policies and guidance on acceptable behaviour in the workplace to ensure an open environment where all employees can raise concerns without fear of retaliation.

The latest quarterly calculation showed the organisation has closed the Gender Pay Gap to 0%. This means that the median hourly rate of pay across the business is the same for males and females. NZ  uses the same formula as Statistics NZ and Mind the Gap to calculate the gender pay gap percentage:

General Manager of People and Culture at Coca-Cola Europacific Partners NZ, Clare Parkes, says “I’m proud of this achievement, it shows how our systemic processes of hiring and rewarding performance are unbiased in applying the right remuneration for the role regardless of gender. Our leaders are committed to creating the best workplace where Everyone’s Welcome and this is one more step we’ve taken towards creating a more inclusive environment”. The CCEP NZ Reward team are committed to reviewing the data quarterly and with the support from Leadership and the wider People & Culture team, the focus is on keeping this gender gap closed.

The focus on gender equality, specifically equal pay for equal work has been a longstanding priority for CCEP NZ. CCEP NZ is a foundation member of the GenderTick and one of the first companies to be accredited in 2018. The GenderTick criteria has provided a benchmark for best practice gender initiatives that helps to enable positive change and improve gender equality at work. In March 2022, CCEP NZ was one of the first 50 organisations who joined Aotearoa New Zealand’s first Public Pay Gap Registry through MindTheGap.nz. This initiative drives commitment to pay gap reporting, by encouraging organisations to share their gender pay gap percentage on their company website.

It’s been nearly 50 years since the Equal Pay Act 1972, and there is still a gender pay gap in New Zealand. The most recent data shared by Statistics NZ reports a gender pay gap of 9.2% nationally. The pay gap represents the difference in median salaries for men and women.

Inclusion, Diversity and Equity goals tie into the overall company strategy, with Gender highlighted as one of the 5 Diversity Pillars. While this positive update is a step in the right direction, Coca-Cola Europacific Partners New Zealand will continue to make improvements for their workforce and continue to advocate for diversity and drive an inclusive workforce where everyone’s welcome.
