Yesterday we were excited to invite the Dutch Prime Minster, Mark Rutte, to officially open Coca-Cola European Partners’ newly renovated bottling plant in Dongen, the Netherlands. The state-of-the-art factory forms part of our commitment to invest in the future of our company and drive sustainable growth.

We have been operating in Dongen since the 1950s, and 85 percent of all soft drinks sold in the Netherlands are manufactured there. We employ about 800 people and use local ingredients whenever possible – for example, mineral water from a nearby spring known as De Wildert and sustainably grown Dutch sugar beets.

The Prime Minister’s tour of our production process at Dongen included an update on the €90 million investment to streamline our production facility and make it more sustainable. We believe this investment will help us to reach our commitment to halve our carbon footprint and use just 1.2 litres of water to produce 1 litre of soft drink.

Our renovated factory demonstrates our belief in the strength of our products and local presence. We've worked hard to make our business in the Netherlands fit for the future – innovative, efficient, responsible and sustainable.

We are proud of the local nature of our business, which goes far beyond the investment we make in our operations or the taxes we pay. Over the course of this week, we will continue to celebrate the opening of our Dongen factory with our employees and their families, our clients, consumers and the local community and other stakeholders.
