Coca-Cola European Partners (CCEP) is committed to being a leader in sustainability in the beverage industry. We set high performance targets for ourselves and believe it is important to report on our progress. CCEP’s sustainability performance is assessed by a range of major sustainability indices, responsible investment analysts and other external organisations.

This includes direct engagement via questionnaires, in-depth interviews, desk research and analysis of our publicly disclosed data and sustainability information. Ratings allow investors to assess and track our environmental, social and governance (ESG) performance against objective industry benchmarks. We use the results to help us strengthen our management systems and sustainability reporting processes.

The Sustainability Yearbook 2019

comprehensive annual assessment of the sustainability performance of the world’s largest companies. In the 2019 Yearbook, CCEP received the Silver Class award, placing us within the range of 1%-5% of the top scoring companies in our industry for sustainability performance.

Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI)

Launched in 1999, the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI) are the world’s longest running global sustainability benchmarks and are considered the most respected measure of corporate sustainability leadership in the world. CCEP has been listed on both the DJSI Europe and DJSI World for four years in a row since the formation of CCEP in 2016, demonstrating the continuous progress we are making on sustainability across our business. In 2019, we achieved a top score of 100 in Health and Nutrition, Environmental Reporting, Environmental Policy & Management Systems, Operational Eco-Efficiency, Climate Strategy, Packaging, Water Related Risks and Human Capital Development.

Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP)

Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) is an international non-profit charity that encourages companies and governments to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions, safeguard water resources and protect forests. CDP’s annual A List names the world’s top businesses for environmental performance, based on their disclosures. CCEP has submitted responses to the CDP Climate list since 2010 and to its water questionnaire since 2012. In 2016, CCEP was added to the CDP A List for Climate and Water, and we retained this position in 2017 and 2018. We were also named as a Supplier Engagement Leader in 2019.

MSCI ESG Research provides ratings and analysis to help investors understand the risks and opportunities related to a company’s environmental, social and governance (ESG) performance. In 2018, FTSE Russell (the trading name of FTSE International Limited and Frank Russell Company) confirmed that CCEP had been independently assessed according to the FTSE4Good criteria, and satisfied the requirements to become a constituent of the FTSE4Good Index Series for the third year running.

ISS-oekom provides industry-specific corporate environmental, social and governance (ESG) ratings to help investors measure a company’s sustainability performance, based on its management of ESG issues.  In 2019, CCEP was given a Prime Rating of B- for the fourth year running. Prime ratings are awarded to companies that meet specific minimum requirements in Corporate Ratings and achieve the best ESG scores among their sector peers.

Euronext Vigeo Eiris index: World 120

In 2018, CCEP was included in the Euronext Vigeo index: World 120. This index distinguishes companies achieving the most advanced environmental, social and governance performances. Companies included in this index have achieved the highest scores, as determined by the review of up to 330 indicators, assessed by the Agency following the Equitics methodology.
