GB Apprenticeship Scheme: Davana, Apprentice – Inside Sales Representative

Last week, we announced our 2019 Apprenticeship Scheme in GB.

We have roles available in the following sectors: Engineering, Business Administration, Sales, and Merchandising. We strongly believe in attracting and developing new talent into our business. Our apprenticeship programme allows you to do just that.

Meet Davana – an apprentice inside sales rep at CCEP GB. Find out from her what it’s like to be an apprentice. If you think you have the drive, enthusiasm and passion to join our business see how you can apply to CCEP GB's 2019 apprenticeship scheme here.

1. Why did you decide to go for an apprenticeship scheme over further education?

To be honest, I’d never thought about an apprenticeship scheme until I was introduced to them in sixth form. I knew I didn’t want to go to university as there wasn’t any degree I particularly wanted to do. I also didn’t want to waste money and time on something where, after all the work I’d put in, may not have resulted in a job. For me, the apprentice scheme option was the best route to go down as I was able to learn a new trade, get a NVQ in something I had never even considered, and earn whilst I worked. The scheme also suits my skillset, as I am more of a practical learner and find it so much easier to learn and retain information by actually doing a task.

2. What is it like being the first port of call for customers?

It is a huge responsibility being the first port of call to our customers, as you need to build a good rapport with the customer, understand their needs and find a solution for them quickly. My role has given me an insight into so many aspects of the company and allowed me to communicate with people at all levels.

3. What skills do you think you’ve developed?

While working at CCEP, I have been involved in a number of campaigns which have required me to sell, collect data and provide customer support, all whilst ensuring I put the customer’s needs first. I have also been selected to represent the company and speak to potential future apprentices about the opportunities available at CCEP, which has been a fantastic and rewarding experience.

4. What is your favourite part of the job?

I enjoy every aspect of my job, but what I like most is the people I work with. In the hub, we are all one big team – everyone is so welcoming and friendly. I have also been able to gain a new role in the hub as a virtual rep and I now look after the Birmingham area and its associated reps. It has been a once-in-a-lifetime experience; I have been able to gather the best first-hand knowledge of working with a company that is known worldwide.

5. Would you recommend apprenticeship schemes to others? If so, why?

I would 100% recommend apprenticeship schemes. Anyone can do one, and there is a suitable scheme out there for everyone. They provide you with priceless experience you cannot gain from a book and open up opportunities that you never thought you’d gain.
